To all of our Fairway Team Members, This week, our Fairway family suffered a loss. Gary Nelson, our Branch Manager in Green Bay, lost his mother, Ruth (Sally) Nelson. Below is a recent picture of Steve, his sister Sherri and her son Austin, their mom, and Gary and his mom, Sally. (seated in front of Gary). Here is the information printed in the Green Bay Press Gazette, concerning Mrs. Nelson. She will be sorely missed! Ruth (Sally) Nelson, 69, Green Bay, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004. She was born Sept. 3, 1935, to the late William and Ruth (Witbro) Beno in Green Bay. On Oct. 3, 1953, she married Hollis (Holly) Nelson in Green Bay; he preceded her in death Nov. 22, 1969. Sally was employed by the Wisconsin Motor Vehicle Department for 23 years, retiring in 1993. She enjoyed baking, gardening, canning and quilt making. Sally especially enjoyed spending time with her family and playing bingo. Survivors include two children, Gary (Linda) Nelson, Green Bay; and Jeanne Simons (Jeff Lindsley), Sobieski; two grandchildren, Benjamin (Jennifer) Simons, Naples, Italy; and Holly (John) Janssen, Green Bay; one great-grandson, Vincent Simons; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Katy Beno, Georgia; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Hollis, she was preceded in death by one brother, David Beno. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, Lombardi Ave. at Ridge Rd. Visitation will continue after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at West Side Moravian Church, 1707 S. Oneida St., where the funeral service will take place at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. James Hicks officiating. Burial will be in the Ashwaubenon Moravian Cemetery. The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. M.J. Falk, Dr. Frank Ralls, Dr. Richard Timmons, Barb and the staff at Harmony House of Green Bay, Unity Hospice, especially Kristin and Pam, and a special thank you to Katie, from Dr. Timmons office, for caring for mom over the years.
